These handcast paper wall pieces are made from 85% handcast Abaca paper. Forms are placed in the piece when casting and removed when the piece is dry to create openings or nichós for objects to be placed in during construction. Each piece is gessoed and then covered with joint compound or cement to create a textured surface, some are then copper leafed. The figures and prayer bundles inside the openings are made of wood, copper, sticks, wire, beads and bones. These assemblages create a feeling of ancient altar pieces. These pieces do not need to be framed.
